Family fun in Dorset this Easter

If you’re staying at Ulwell Cottage Caravan Holiday Park this Easter why not participate in some of the exciting Easter events and activities taking place across Dorset. Whether your looking to explore the beautiful coastline on a family Easter egg hunt, or feed baby animals at one of the nearby farm parks – you’re sure to find something the whole family will enjoy!

Our family friendly holiday park is the perfect base for a short break or extended stay over the Easter school holidays. With a swimming pool, outdoor play park and newly refurbished bar and restaurant, there’s plenty to keep the children entertained after a busy day exploring the local area.

Easter at Lulworth

Lulworth Castle, Lulworth

Enjoy a magical Alice Wonderland themed event at Lulworth Castle this Easter. Venture into the castle to meet the mad hatter and try a number of exciting games and activities, including trails, Easter egg hunts, soft play, crazy golf and a bouncy castle. If the great British weather decides to take a turn for the worse, there is plenty of indoor fun to be had, as well as a pop up cafe serving cream teas, refreshments and light bites.

Explore the ruins of the Corfe Castle as you complete activities spread around the medieval site. Dress as knights and damsels as you learn about the bats that inhabit the castle before collecting your chocolate prize.

Easter Activities at the Etches Collection

Museum of Jurassic Marine Life,, Kimmeridge

6th April – 22nd April 2019

Throughout the Easter holidays there will be a number of exciting and educational activities on offer at the Museum of Jurassic Marine Life as part of the Etches Collection. Children can paint fossil moulds and participate in their very own fossil excavation in the onsite sandpit. Every day there are interesting quizzes and worksheets to complete as a family and on Friday’s you can bring your own fossils to be inspected by one of the expert team.

Easter Family Fun

Farmer Palmers, Poole

Join the team at Farmer Palmers for a fun filled farmyard day out. Each day of the Easter weekend the Easter Bunny will hide hundreds of eggs around the field ready to be found. There will also be plenty of opportunity to meet baby animals and play.

Go Wild at Easter: Wild in the Woods

Explore the woods as part of RSPB Arne’s Go Wild for Easter event. Make your very own leaf crown, create a magical fairy garden and try your hand at the woodland Olympic games. There is also a trail to follow through the forest, where you may be lucky enough to spot some of the wildlife that calls this place home.

Wimborne Model Town is hosting a number of fun filled family events this Easter. Search for clues as you explore the model town to complete the worksheet and claim a small prize. On a number of days there will also be Easter crafts including bonnet making, egg painting and making Easter baskets.

Monkey World is the ideal place for a family trip during the school holidays this spring. Watch as the monkeys swing around their enclosures and learn more about these incredible creatures through a number of interesting talks and displays. Over the Easter weekend free Easter eggs will be given to the first 100 children that enter the park. As part of the Easter celebrations Monkey World will be running ‘Go EAST for Easter’, which will involve plenty of family activities and games. The campaign aims to help raise funds to release gibbons back into the wild in Vietnam.

Put your craft skills to the test and take part in Lyme Regis’s annual Easter Bonnet parade. This traditional event starts in the Baptist Church where judging will take place. The town’s mayor will then lead the procession through the town until the parade culminates at the Jubilee Pavilion.

The Tank Museum is open every day of the Easter holidays and is the perfect attraction for all the family. As well as showcasing the best collection of military vehicles in the world, the museum has plenty of activities to keep smaller members of the family entertained. Every afternoon you can watch the tanks in action and witness realistic explosions in the museums grounds. There is also the opportunity to experience a ride in a tracked vehicle as well as family trails, soft play, dressing up and an outdoor play area.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

Get out into the great outdoors and enjoy the Cadbury’s Easter egg hunt in the stunning surroundings of Studland Bay. To claim your chocolate treat you will have to follow a trail around Knoll Beach in search of clues to solve a mystery! After the trail participate in a range of activities including crafts and den building, or just take some time as a family to explore and play in the beautiful sand dunes or surrounding forest.

What better time to visit Kingston Maurward than at the start of spring. Take a gentle stroll through the well-maintained gardens to enjoy the springtime flowers in all their glory and search for Easter eggs hidden around the grounds. Little ones can look at the new-born lambs and meet a variety of farm animals including sheep, ducks, goats, alpacas and cows.

    What a find. I almost don’t want to tell you about it.

    It’s a family park with lovely, mostly new, fresh, clean spacious caravans – all set out almost in steps on the side of a small hill. The larger hill rises behind you, the sea spreads out in front and the swimming pool beckons behind the bar.

    The people are friendly, the site is clean and welcoming and the scenery unbeatable. It’s a gem of a place.

    Always my no.1 choice when visiting Swanage. A truly wonderful location, lying under the stunning Ballard Down and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Being only a 10 min walk from Swanage and the coast means it’s conveniently located for all amenities.

    The staff are always very helpful to sort out any problems and keep the site in fantastic condition. A 5-star park.

    Stayed here as a base to tour Isle of Purbeck and go on to Air show in Bournemouth. Not the cheapest site but definitely the cleanest and well thought out.

    Swimming pool , shop and pub/restaurant all in proximity and well kept/stocked. Bus stop right outside entrance. Grass pitches have plenty of space and well drained with shower blocks water/ drain points really handy.

    Will definitely be using this site again.

  • Lovely weekend

    We have just returned from a lovely weekend caravanning at Ulwell Cottage Caravan Park.
    Lovely clean site with indoor heated pool. We went in the pool around 5pm and were the only ones in there (apart from life guard) it was lovely and warm and clean.

    We walked to old Harry’s rock and then Down into Swanage itself and had fish and chips and an ice cream.
    Staff on the site were helpful and friendly. Lovely stay.

  • Our second, lovely Christmas at Ulwell

    After the success of Christmas 2016 at Ulwell, we returned again for Christmas 2017 and had another great time. Lovely warm caravan, peaceful and relaxing on site and a fantastic carvery on Boxing Day at The Village Inn.

    Thanks to all staff who were working and made sure we had such a great break away.

Finding us


From Bournemouth via the Sandbanks chain ferry and following the B3351 into Swanage.

Please note: The Sandbanks Ferry will be out of action until at least October.

From Wareham using the A351 into Swanage, turn left along the seafront towards Studland.


The park is situated on the main bus route from Bournemouth to Swanage.
