There is so much to see and do at this award-winning attraction, you’ll want to visit time and time again. It really is one of the best family attractions in Dorset and well worth a visit during your caravan, touring or camping at Ulwell Holiday Park.

Family Fun Days Out in Dorset

A day out at Monkey World is a fun, unique and educational experience that the whole family will love.  Monkey World is home to a wide variety of different primate species, including chimpanzees, orangutans, gibbons, lemurs and so many more. When spending a day at Monkey World, you can expect a fully immersive experience which allows you and your family to observe and learn more about these remarkable animals.

The animal sanctuary is committed to rescuing primates and raising awareness of their plight. As you walk around the sanctuary, you can read all about the individual animal’s origin and where they have been rescued from, along with interesting facts about the individual species. Monkey World actively works to rehabilitate monkeys from around the globe, many of whom have thankfully been rescued from the illegal wildlife trade. Their hard work has been featured on the hit TV show Monkey Life, which offers a behind the scenes look at how the centre is run.

Guided Tours & Experiences

If you’d like to gain further insight into the day-to-day lives of the primates at this sanctuary, Monkey World offer plenty of unmissable experiences, such as specialist talks and guided tours. Throughout the day, there are scheduled feeding times and talks where you can gather around the enclosures to learn more about the animals and their behaviour. Alternatively, guided tours are an excellent way to explore the sanctuary. During these tours, experts will lead your group through the park, whilst providing interesting information about the different primate species.

Family-Friendly Facilities

Monkey World is an excellent place for families to visit whilst on holiday in Dorset. There are an assortment of family-friendly facilities on the site, such as picnic benches, cafes, gift shops and plenty of monkey-themed playgrounds for your own little monkeys to enjoy. The extensive outdoor play area is well suited to younger and older children. You can easily spend a couple of hours here!

When having a day out at Monkey World, it is important to remember that this sanctuary is dedicated to primate welfare and wishes to continue providing a safe and suitable environment for the animals living here. With that in mind, there are guidelines and rules in place to ensure the safety and happiness of both the animals and guests – so please remember to follow any instructions or when visiting Monkey World.

What our guests say

  • A lovely quiet site

    Andy Blackwell

A lovely quiet site, nice warm amenities with good sized shower cubicles, shop not open yet as it’s too early but the local pub is ideal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. If you’re reasonably fit you can walk into Swanage but the bus service is great so why would you want to. Overall a very nice break, we will be back.
