Bournemouth
Whilst staying at Ulwell Holiday Park, we highly recommend that guests explore the local towns nearby! One of the most popular day trip destinations that our guests often visit is Bournemouth! Just a short drive away from our holiday park in Swanage, Bournemouth offers a diverse range of attractions, delightful cafes, shops, restaurants, and attractions for the whole family to enjoy!
Bournemouth Beach
Bournemouth boasts an incredibly stunning coastline and a visit to this world-famous beach is an absolute must for any holidaymakers visiting Dorset! The waters here are incredibly clean, making Bournemouth Beach the perfect spot for a quick dip – or even fun-filled splash around with the family!
To ensure your safety whilst visiting Bournemouth Beach, there are lifeguards on patrol from the 27th of May to the 10th of September. However, we please would like to remind parents to keep watch over their children and to always swim sensibly.
During the summer months, there are also a wide selection of exciting fairground rides and stalls on Bournemouth Pier and just off Bournemouth Beach. Such rides frequently include merry-go-rounds, a helter-skelter and large slides! Alternatively on a rainy day, we highly recommend popping into Bournemouth Oceanarium, which is full of weird and beautiful sea creatures!
Attractions in Bournemouth
As one of the largest towns in Dorset, Bournemouth has a wide selection of fantastic attractions to discover! Whilst spending a day out in Bournemouth, many guests often take a stroll along the Beach. Bournemouth Beach providers visitors with access to the Bournemouth Pier and the Lower Gardens – from where you can enjoy the panoramic views over the Jurassic Coast!
If you happen to be caught out by the weather, we recommend exploring a local museum such as the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum. The Russel-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum has wide selection of artwork and sculptures to browse, many of which have been inspired by natural areas of beauty in Dorset.
There are also plenty of attractions in Bournemouth that children will love! During the summer months, there will be exciting fairground rides on Bournemouth Pier and just off Bournemouth Beach. Alternatively on a rainy day, we highly recommend popping into Bournemouth Oceanarium – which is full of weird and beautiful sea creatures!
Families can spend a day at the Bournemouth Gardens, which is complete with a mini-golf course, playgrounds, cafes, and even a locally famous aviary. During the summer months, there are a variety of musical acts and festivals that take place in the Bournemouth Gardens – and so, we highly recommend checking out what’s on before you visit Bournemouth!
Cafes and Restaurants in Bournemouth
Bournemouth is rich in culture and as such, this town in Dorset has an incredibly vibrant culinary scene! If you’re spending the whole day at Bournemouth, we recommend visiting Olive Cafe for breakfast as it is often regarded as having ’the best breakfast in the whole of Bournemouth’! For a midday pick-me-up, head to The Cosy Club for a delicious spot of lunch in an art-deco-style building. As evening falls, treat yourself to international flavours and refreshing cocktails at Aruba on Bournemouth Pier!
