If you’re heading to Ulwell Camping and Caravan Park this October half term, why not try one of the exciting family that are happening across Dorset. From creepy Halloween themed castles to farmyard fun, there is something for all ages to enjoy, all within a short drive of the site. Here are just a few of our favourites to keep the kids entertained.
Corfe Castle, Corfe
Head to Corfe Castle this half term for a fun filled day out with the family! Search for missing pumpkins amongst the ruins of this medieval fort and learn all about the creatures that inhabit the area. Children will love the great escape zip wire, where they can help their teddy bear flee from the Castle’s keep. There is also a missile launch in the afternoons from a replica Warwolf II engine!

Lulworth Castle, Lulworth
Enjoy an afternoon at Lulworth Castle at the Spooky Fun event. Kids will love playing outside and jumping in the gigantic leaf pile. Join in the hunt for bats around the castles grounds and meet Merlin, the mystical magician! Throughout the day there will be a variety of Halloween themed activities for the whole participate in, including making a spooky mask!

The Blue Pool, Wareham
Take a leisurely walk around the spectacular Blue Pool this October half term and see for yourself the magical lake that changes colour with the seasons. From striking turquoise to varying shades of green, it really is a site not to be missed. Throughout the week there will be spooky trails to follow around the outskirts of the pool and as an extra special half term treat there will be 15% discount in the onsite Teahouse.

Studland Bay, Studland
Follow a self guided trail through the dunes of Studland Bay this half term in search of creepy crawlies as part of the National Trusts Creatures of the Night event. The walk begins at Knoll Beach each morning and aims to help children discover and learn about the natural environment and the animals that inhabit it. The discover centre will also be hosting a range of Halloween themed crafts for children take part in.

The Tank Museum, Bovington
The Tank Museum houses the world’s biggest collection of tanks and is the ultimate day out for any vehicle or military enthusiast. Take a tour of the museums exhibition halls and get up close to these impressive feats of engineering. During half term there will be the live displays every day, where you will get the chance to see the tanks in action accompanied by explosions and a running commentary. To keep the kids entertained there is also be the to opportunity to ride in a M548 tracked vehicle as well as a number of activities, including dressing up, an exciting trail and an indoor and outdoor play area.

Farmer Palmer’s, Organford
Throughout half term Farmer Palmers will be hosting a Halloween spectacular! Join in the fun by dressing up and joining in with the range of themed activities including dancing and face painting. There will also be all of the usual fun you would expect from a family farm including animal feeding and play areas.

Arne Nature Reserve, Wareham
Join one of the Welly Walks at Arne Nature Reserve this half term and get your little ones out into the great outdoors. Splash around in the puddles and explore the forest trails that lead to the sea. The volunteer staff will be on hand to advise what animals you may spot and also help you learn how to use ‘journey sticks’ as you explore the forest.

Durlston Country Park, Swanage
Durlston County Park is hosting a number of exciting and creative activities and workshops over the half term, with something to appeal to ever member of the family. Head out on a trail in search of bats, or create a spooky stop motion animation out of clay. There is even the chance to make wind chimes and garden hangings made from naturally sourced materials.
